Sendcloud API: connect Sendcloud to your webshop and marketplaces
With the Sendcloud API and webhooks, an order becomes a label, the customer gets the tracking link, and a return flows back to stock and accounts. n8n has no built-in Sendcloud node, so this is custom work in n8n.
CustomVia the API, custom-built
What you can do with the Sendcloud API
- Create a shipping label as soon as an order is ready
- Tracking to the customer and to bol.com or your webshop
- Register returns and let them flow back to stock
- Shipping costs per order to your accounting
- Flag shipments that get stuck
How the integration works
Through the API, the integration creates a shipment with the address and parcel details from the order and chooses the carrier according to your rules. Status changes come in through a webhook. Every step is logged, and a shipment without a status update triggers an alert.
Facts about the Sendcloud API
Checked on 2 November 2026 against the official documentation. Limits, prices and versions change; the source is listed per row.
| Fact | What the documentation says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication | Basic Authentication with a public key and private key from a Sendcloud API integration, or OAuth2 with a Bearer token when enabled on the integration. | Sendcloud: Authentication |
| Token lifetime | OAuth2 access tokens expire after 1 hour; API keys do not expire. | Sendcloud: Authentication |
| Rate limits | 1,000 read requests per minute; 100 write actions per minute with a burst of 15 per second. When exceeded, 429. | Sendcloud: Rate limits |
| Webhooks | Enabled per integration; v3 sends a message on every status change of a parcel, with a Sendcloud-Signature (HMAC-SHA256). Up to ten attempts in about an hour and a half. | Sendcloud: Webhooks v3 |
| Test environment | No sandbox. Testing is possible on the live API with the Unstamped letter option, which costs nothing; other test labels have to be cancelled in time. | Sendcloud: Creating test labels |
| Version | API v3 is current; v2 has been in maintenance mode since April 2026 and gets no new features. | Sendcloud: API version guide |
| Objects | Shipments, orders, returns and Ship an Order (shipment and label in one step). | Sendcloud Developer Docs |
| n8n | No built-in node. Note: the npm package n8n-nodes-sendcloud is a different product (a Brazilian email service). I connect through the API with an HTTP step. | n8n documentation |
What you need on your side
- A Sendcloud administrator who can create an API integration with keys and enable webhooks
- Your shipping rules on paper: which carrier for which country, weight and size
- Complete address data in the source (webshop or marketplace), including a phone number where the carrier asks for it
- Agreements on who picks up a rejected label
Where it often goes wrong, and how I prevent it
- Addresses: an incomplete address results in a rejected label. The integration checks it and reports it before shipping.
- Multiple parcels: an order with several boxes needs several labels under one order.
- Carrier rules: which carrier goes with which country and weight, I record in advance.
- Status mapping: the Sendcloud statuses must match those of your webshop and marketplace.
In practice
In webshop intakes, "forgot the tracking email" is one of the most mentioned mistakes. With this integration, that email goes out with the label, without anyone having to think about it.
What it costs
I build a Sendcloud integration as one scoped process for a fixed price, from €750. Maintenance and monitoring are a monthly fee: n8n management from €250 per month, server management €145 per server. In the free assessment we work out your process. All prices and what is included →
What I do not do
- I do not negotiate carrier contracts and do not manage your Sendcloud subscription.
- I do not create test labels with a normal shipping option without a cancellation agreement, because those are invoiced.
- I no longer build new integrations on API v2.
Frequently asked questions about the Sendcloud API
Does n8n have a Sendcloud node?
No. I connect Sendcloud through the official API in n8n.
Can the tracking also go to bol.com?
Yes. The integration reports the shipment with tracking to bol.com and checks whether bol has processed the report.
Does this also work with MyParcel or PostNL?
Yes, with the same pattern through their own API. In the assessment we look at which carriers you use.
Can I test a Sendcloud integration without cost?
Yes, with the Unstamped letter option on the live API; Sendcloud does not charge for it. A label with a normal shipping option is invoiced if you do not cancel it in time. The integration therefore runs with that test option first.
How many labels per minute can the integration create?
Sendcloud allows 100 write actions per minute, with a burst of 15 per second. For a peak, for example after a promotion, the integration processes orders in batches and reports what is still in the queue.
